Being an absolute NON-athlete, this is an extremely scary, intimidating, overwhelming, and exhilarating new activity. Pop by regularly to see how I am progressing. My weight/exercise log keeps a daily update on times walked. I would love your company and support on this new adventure.
Oklahoma City Marathon - Elisa walked a 5K - April 19, 2009
 |
I made it. I did it. The five K was nothing but a thang. It was cool. The weather was lovely. The only bad part was when I was crossing the street to catch the trolley, a group of 5 or 6 young ladies starting point at me and laughing. Hmmppggghh. I have been a teacher how long now? Pfft. Then, when we boarded the trolley, I was told to get off by another group of runners to make room for some "real runners". The fat people were walking, so it didn't matter if we were late. Guess who did not give up her spot. |
Once I got there, the people were fabulous. The walk went great and I had a blast. I beat my best time and made the 5K in a hair under an hour. I know the picture says 1 hr. 15 minutes...but I had to take a turn to get at the clock, and the clock started for the runners. Walkers had to wait for a while afterwards. The weather was incredible. Not hot not cold. I did it. I walked it and I made it. Twirling in circles.

My next walk has been rescheduled. I will be doing the 10K in Amarillo with Kids Inc in June. I'll be ready. So, time to ramp up the training and get ready for that. Grin, I'll be zipping along 10K in no time flat.
