When I first started losing weight I wasn't able to move very well. The arthritis limited my activity. When I first started walking I was lucky to make 5-10 minutes without terrible pain. Each day I pushed more and more and eventually as I lost weight I was able to go further and further. After the first couple months I was walking 60 + minutes a day. I never added any other exercise feeling the walking was enough. The weight was coming off and I was happy. AT this point I left Boot Camp and thought I could continue this journey alone....WRONG!! I didn't gain a lot of weight...but I didn't lose any either! Still needing to lose another 100 pounds I realized I needed some support. Back to Raw Food Boot Camp!
This time around Carlene tightened her restrictions on exercise and I had to learn to make it priority. So...back to walking...pushing for 90 minutes which wasn't all that hard until I learned about walking/working out in my fat burn zone. That day was a rude awakening. I thought walking all over town for 90 minutes was going to burn the remaining fat off....WRONG. Walking all over town at a leisurely pace talking with friends, enjoying the sites wasn't getting the job done.
I learned how to determine my fat burn zone and it changed my whole attitude about exercise!
I was determined to find a solution. I looked around and found a gym and signed up for a group exercise class where a trainer would guide us. I was so excited until the first class when I was the biggest person working out with a bunch of little Barbie doll's that looked down there noses at me in awe. It made me want to run right out the door to the nearest fast food chain...but I am better than that. I am a very stubborn person and wasn't going to allow them to look at me as a loser. For the next solid week I put myself through hell trying to keep up with them and crying all the way home. Uggh!
One day a lady approached me with a business card of a different gym in the area. Out of curiosity I went and checked the place out. |

It is absolutely beautiful. Most of all I was impressed that they made me feel like I fit in. They have been working with me according to the RFBC rules and offer daily support! I have a whole different out look on exercise and for the first time in my life am enjoying it, and I cant believe I actually miss it when I cant go!
I feel like a million bucks after each session, it gives me such a sense of accomplishment.

Walking on an indoor track vs outdoors makes you really focus on what you are trying to accomplish!
I am now using a heart monitor for all exercise....it is an eye opening experience! I now have NO excuses! I make each minute count and am seeing great results!
A typical day at the gym is 90 minutes of walking in my fat burn zone of 120-150, 30 minutes in circuit or 20 minutes rowing machine and 60 minutes of water aerobics, afterwards I jump in the hot tub and then go in the sauna, I feel so energized the whole day. |
My goal is to become as fit as I am able, so I may enjoy all the fun things that will be available at Live Summer Boot camp in July.
