Raw Food Boot Camp is geared toward obese women, but open to everyone. Beating obesity and changing food addictions to healthy life choices is the primary focus of camp. You do not have to be obese to join, but realize that when I talk about breaking food addictive behaviors, I am doing it from an obesity point of view. About half of the members at Raw Food Boot Camp started over 200 pounds. There are those that started over 300 pounds and some over 400 pounds. Other come who weigh in the high 100s. Some started at just 150 pounds but have as many food addictive behaviors as those of us who have lived obese. RFBC is not for the casual dieter. It is for those who are interested in changing their relationship with food for life and who want freedom from food obsession along with losing weight.
Raw Food is our tool. It is not our obsession. Unlike many raw foodists, as obese women, we have to be careful of over eating even raw foods, and we have to maintain low fat% levels in our daily diet. Exercise is also key. Where yoga does wonders for our thin cousins, for us, it is walking, and a lot of it.
The goal of this program is that not only will you lose the weight fast, but that you will work with the group to change old behaviors and incorporate new ones where eating is concerned. That is our primary focus. You do not have to commit to being 100% raw for the rest of your life, you don't even have to do a 100% raw food eating program, but you do have to incorporate raw food into your life, even if only at 50%. Raw food for some reason works faster than the same amount of cooked calories when it comes to fast weight loss.

What we do at Raw Food Boot Camp
Raw Food Boot Camp (RFBC) is an on-line support program led by me, Carlene Jones. I used a low fat, low sodium, low sugar 100% raw food diet and hiking to lose 136 pounds in 9 months. 104 of that was lost in six months. Since then I have been helping others lose weight the same way. When I first started Boot Camp, I was tough. I thought, the only way to do this was the way I did it, and I was drill sergeant all the way. After almost five years of coaching women I discovered not everyone can do this the way I did, so we offer different programs. You can see the fees and short descriptions of each of the programs on the Support Option page.

I only offer Private Coaching to women who are 75+ pounds overweight. This program is very individualized and geared completely to who you are and they type of support you need for success. The diet and exercise program is based completely on who you are and the life you lead. I am always pushing for better cleaner food and longer exercise, but we go at your pace. If you want me in drill sergeant mode, then I am happy to be there. If you just want a guiding hand, I can do that too.
It consists of two 20-30 minute phone calls a week with daily emails. New clients also get an hour long initial call. Payment and photos (if you do not choose to keep your photos private) are due before our hour long chat. At the end of that phone call, you have 24 hours to change your mind and cancel. We both do. If you or I decide we are not a good fit, then you will receive a full refund of your fees. After the 24 hours, fees are not refundable or transferable.
The type of women who do best with this type of support are those that don't have time for forums and groups, or who need a more personal touch to their program.
Many stick with personal coaching because they have to deal with me directly and know that they have to talk to me twice a week and that keeps them on program.
Here are two great examples of different women in my private coaching who do completely different programs and lose weight at a different speeds.
Martoon is an all or nothing kind of woman. She understands her addictive personality and is very much like me when it comes to wanting something and going after it. She sticks to her program like glue. She is working toward longer durations in walking, but had to start slower. She hates the walking, but has learned to accept it as part of her program. She gets angry at times that she has to do this at all, but is determined that a raw diet is the only way for her to do this successfully. She eats a 90% raw diet. Our phone calls each week are about keeping her excited about what she is doing, and promoting her new addiction --losing weight (healthfully, of course). She signed up for six months in the very beginning, so her commitment was not debatable. She's mine. Right now with just two months in, she has lost over 40 pounds. My expectation for her is 100 pounds gone her first six months.
JJ, is a completely different story. She handles moderation well and preferred slower loss to giving up her favorite foods. She started her program with hardly any raw food. She was eating bacon every day! Now with over 30 pounds gone, slowly, she has given up the highly processed foods and incorporated more fruit into her life. It was a slow process that she feels she did on her own, although she is the first to tell you she thinks that was a ruse and I was pushing her my way all along. Either way, here she is at a weight she hasn't seen in over seventeen years and feels she has designed the perfect diet for her. A baconless one at that. She has changed her eating habits completely, and although she won't get 100 pounds in six months, when she reaches her goal weight, keeping it is going to be much easier for her. We talk twice a week to keep her motivated and to remind her that even when she thinks she has had a bad week, she is leaps ahead of where she was food wise last year. Her confidence in herself and making good choices when it comes to food are two areas we have worked hard on, and it shows.
These two women have completely different conversations with me each week, but both are destined for success. They have made up their minds that what they are doing is not short-term, but life long and are working on accepting their new life where food no longer plays a major role in their lives.
Now I'll tell you who doesn't do well with Private Coaching!
I am not very good at codling, and will call an excuse an excuse no matter how much it is sugar coated. Some women don't like that. They want to think of themselves as different than every other obese woman out there and call after call spend their time trying to convince me that not following their program is to their advantage, and that they are okay without losing weight, because they feel good about what they are working on. I guess this is okay for other coaches, but I am just not an enabler. So if you are looking for someone to convince you don't need to work consistently toward your goal, I am not the coach for you. And although you are paying me to be your coach, I have no patience for women who take our coaching lightly. My expectations are high. You will use Fit day every day of the week whether you stuck with your program or not, and you will answer the phone when I call.
I have lots of empathy and I have the experience to get you through tough times. I never judge you or expect you to be perfect, as a matter of fact, I can use your falls as learning experiences for long term success, and I can talk you through tough times when you would normally quit a program. Those are my strengths, but I don't offer magic. If you want to succeed you are going to have to work hard for it, and to do that long term you have to really want this.

Raw Food Boot Camp is about change. It is about incorporating raw food and healthy non-processed food into your life, forever! When you first join RFBC, I guide you through your first five days to help you come up with a diet and exercise plan that will work best for you. I share with what I have learned in all these years of coaching obese women with healthy food so that you can start making wise choices in your own bid for a healthy happy life.
Many are disappointed that I don't have strict diet plans, that I don't have a recipe book, and that I don't just tell them what do do. My response to that is that every diet you have ever tried has done that and it got you no where. Instead you are going to make your own diet, you are gong to see what works for you, based on who you are, not who I or anyone else in the group thinks you should be. This is tough in the beginning, but after a while, knowing you are living on a diet you approved, you created, you feel more in tune with it and don't resent it. This is very important for long-term success.
Every day at RFBC we work together as a team, or rather as three teams. We have a Steady Weight Loss group which is made up of women who are eating a minimum of 50% raw food in their diet each day and walking, but are not in constant push mode. These women are good with slower weight loss as long as the weight keeps coming off. The other group, Fast Weight Loss, is for women who are determined to lose 2+ pounds per week. That takes work. A good diet and a minimum of 60 minutes of walking in your Fat Burn Heart Rate Zone every day. The third group, Butt Kickers is for those willing to do a 100% low fat, low sugar, low sodium raw diet and walk a minimum of 2 hours each day. When you first join RFBC you will not automatically be put in any group. At the end of the 5 day Orientation you and I will decide together where you will do best and you will join that group in progress. Everyone at RFBC is friendly and there are no cliques. To feel a part of any of our groups, all you have to do is participate.
I am an active participant in all groups. I read your posts, I comment as needed, and I keep an eye on my clients. If I feel you need a push, you'll hear from me.
On Mondays and Fridays everyone uses the same accountability and discussion thread to weigh in. It is a great opportunity to keep everyone at RFBC acquainted with everyone else.
On Mondays and Thursdays, we offer a 100% low fat, low sugar, low sodium Raw day that everyone is welcome to participate in.
We also hold other types of challenges to keep everyone on their toes.
Every evening after reading all the posts, I record a daily audio for the next day. It is always based on what is going on at camp. If someone is struggling, their struggle might be the issue, if someone has mentioned something in a thread, I may pick up on it and talk about that. You never know where one day will lead. RFBC is an ever evolving group. We work with raw foods, but we work more with each other.
If losing weight were easy, you wouldn't need RFBC. It is hard. A good solid group like we have at RFBC can make the difference when it comes down to dropping yet another diet in hopes to find the perfect one for you.

At Raw Food Boot Camp, women are offered an additional level of support with a daily Personal Log with me. Every day you will tell me your food, calories, fat%, sodium and exercise for the day before. We will work on your problem areas and I will keep you reality based when it comes to what you are willing to do food and exercise wise and what you will get for weight loss. This is a very popular program. While I offer support in the 5 day orientation and in the daily RFBC accountability thread, this type of support is very individualized.
Again, I am not an enabler, but you get to choose the type of support you want from me. I can be a drill sergeant, or I can be a helpful guide with a firm hand. The choice is yours. Everyone know what type of support they do best on.
