Kara Hits 140 Pounds Gone in less than 1 year!

Diet: Simple Low Fat 100% Raw

Kara has lost 140 pounds at RFBC. Her first year anniversary at RFBC is coming up this month, so that 140 pounds was lost in less than one year. That is incredible. Now you probably wonder, can she be healthy eating raw for that long and losing weight that fast. Well, except for her broken ankle, she is doing great. You can see her newest photos on her Peruvian Adventure webpage.

And Kara is officially RFBC's Biggest Loser. Kara bypassed my 136 pounds lost, and is now headed to reaching her own big goals with Raw Food and to become the Biggest Loser for the raw community.

Kara hit 125 pounds gone at the end of our September program. That is 125 pounds in 10 months. That is faster than women with gastric bypass surgery lose weight. She is headed for two new goals this coming month. One, to get out of the obese category according to doctor standards and to bypass my loss of 136 pounds which will make her the all time biggest loser of RFBC. We are very proud of her accomplishments. She now runs our Power Loser Club and has become a huge inspiration to all the women at camp.

Kara survived Peru. Although she could not keep up with all the 19 year old male hiking pros, she did great even though she was hiking on a sprained ankle. It was an interesting trip full of surprises, danger, and frustration when transportation issues constantly made her rearrange her schedule. Staying raw in Peru was difficult as fresh fruits and veggies were not always available, but she did her best, kept in contact with us at camp, and feels pretty confident she has not gained back any of her weight. She should be home in another week or two to her own scale to see just how well she did.

We shouted this from our newsletter, and want to make sure everyone knows. Kara hit the 100 pounds gone mark in our June Summer Starter's Program. She is now off to Peru for the month of July to hike the Amazon Jungle and to climb the mountain of Machu Picchu. Kara has worked hard to achieve her goals and not be the fat girl struggling to keep up. Now she will be known as the powerful woman the llamas couldn't keep up with. We are all very proud of her achievement. It wasn't always easy, but she made it. When she returns in August she will be back to weight loss mode to reach her lifetime goal weight by the end of this winter. And talk about power, this winter Kara plans to enter snow shoe races. Now that sounds like fun!

Stacy 75 lbs in 5.5 Months

Diet: 100% Simple Raw
Support: 5 Days/Week
Exercise: Avg 120min/Day

This week as Stacy hit the 75 lb gone mark she has been on vacation visiting a variety of old friends and inspiring some of them to try high raw and see how it works for them. Instead of being deterred by not having her own gym she called ahead and found friends who would let her use their treadmills while away. This is what it takes to succeed. I am so proud of Stacy and her determination to take this all the way. Keep tabs on her, she will be our next 100 lbs gone member by the end of February and should be at goal by summer.

Stacy has been showing everyone how this is done. I'm not saying she has been perfect, but she has worked through some very hard things and still kept her health and RFBC as a priority. Recently she won a Biggest Loser contest at her local gym, and has signed up for a second round which she plans on winning as well. She is a great example of what attitude can do for success.

Raw Delta 65 lbs in 7 Months

Raw Delta joined Rawk Village in late January of 2008 with the goal of losing ten pounds a month. In March she joined me at Ivy Hall and then moved to RFBC in May using the privacy option. Her consistency has been a great strength at Boot Camp, and her determination to make life long changes a true inspiration.

Sharon 50 lbs in 6.5 Months

Diet: 50% Raw
Support: 7 Days/Week
Exercise: Avg 90min/Day

Sharon has been an anomaly at Boot Camp. She eats a lot of cooked food compared to everyone else, and at times make me cringe with some of her choices. I am on her every day to make better choices and to get in her exercise. Others would have left camp months ago, but Sharon continues to push on, and has lost 50 pounds in 6.5 months.

What I admire most about Sharon is her desire to do this and that she never gives up. While I am on her case daily, she has made huge improvements in her food choices and has eradicated many bad eating habits from her daily routine.

Kathy hits 50lbs Gone and Goal!

Diet: Low Fat 100% Raw Recipes Allowed
Support: 7 Days/Week
Exercise: Avg 90min/Day

Eleven years ago Kathy began her raw journey with half high-fat raw and half cooked. It didn't work for her so 3 years ago she eliminated the cooked food. During that time her health improved immensely: She had been in a wheelchair, had diabetes, had beginning macular degeneration in her eyes and was plagued with painful arthritis. She began camp in March. As you can see by her photos, she no longer needs the wheelchair and her other health issues are gone as well. She even had the optometrist tell her to have the DMV remove her vision restriction from her license. At the end of August camp she wrote and told me that she needed to stop telling people that she was diabetic!

It took Kathy 11 years to slowly loose 36 lbs but at RFBC, only 6 months to loose her last 50 lbs. At times it felt slow for her and her patience waned, but she stuck it our, and continued on with perseverance and determination. That is what it takes to change your life, but how amazing that it is also all it takes to go from being in a wheelchair to forming her own bike club!!


As of Sept 3rd Kathy will be on maintenance.

AJ Breaks all RFBC Records 53 lbs in 53 Days!

AJ has been astonishing. She joined RFBC in May and has already lost over 53 pounds. We called it on day 53 - 53 pounds in 53 days an all time RFBC record. This woman doesn't give in to cravings, she doesn't let a few down days due to detox get in her way, she is determined, and pushes hard. Her goal is to lose her first hundred pounds by September 4th. I have no doubts she will make it.

62 lbs gone! During our June Break, AJ had a big fall. She contemplated leaving camp, but it didn't take much to convince her to come back which she did with a renewed desire for success.It took her a while to lose the weight she gained, but she did it and is quickly catching up to reach her birthday goal of 100 pounds gone by Sept 4th. Stay tuned.

Beloved Hadassah 53 lbs - 48.6 of it lost in 2.5 months

Beloved Hadassah joined RawkVillage in March of 2008, where she lost 7.2 pounds. She started here at RFBC in May 2008 where she has already lost another 48.6 pounds. It is not always easy, and right now her life is full of joyful chaos, but she has learned to put her health on the top of her priority list and continues to have great losses.

Tamara is actually part of our General Membership right now, which doesn't usually show up on our public pages, but Tamara was one of our original RFBC Fall 07 members and is featured on our Finishers Page. She has recently returned to RFBC where she continues to lose weight with her new determination to not just maintain what she originally lost, but to reach her goal.

Valerie Hits 52.6lbs Gone in 3.5 Months!

Valerie started her membership with seven days a week of support and a phenomenal first month. For personal reasons she dropped down to the General Membership where she continued to have good months, finally hitting that 50 lbs gone mark.

Sheila hits 40 lbs Gone in 10 weeks and Goal!

Diet: 100% Simple Raw
Support: General Membership
Exercise: 60 min/day

Sheila returned to camp after gaining back some of the weight she lost in 2005. Just like she did originally she came back determined to just get this done and she has. 40 lbs in ten weeks is very doable at boot camp when you stick to the diet and exercise the way Sheila has. Now she is moving into maintenance at a slower pace and working to keep this weight her life time weight.

Elizabeth hits Goal - 28 lbs in 2.5 Months

When Elizabeth first joined RFBC in May of 2008, she told me she was sleeping 18 hours a day and had no energy for life. Here we are just a couple of months later, and she has energy to spare. She wakes up each morning feeling great with a bounce in her step and a new lust for life. It has been a wonderful transformation to watch.

Her last weekend before hitting goal her family took her on holiday to a Greek Island for her birthday. There she was flooded with temptation as everyone ate and ate around her, but she decided to stick with her program and reach her goal. After going back to her room and fetching her watermelon to eat while everyone pigged out on high fat, high sugar foods she was ready to tour on foot while all those heavy eaters took naps by the pool. She knew then how lucky she was to have discovered the power of healthy eating.

Chris Reaches Goal - A triumph 6 years in the making

She actually entered maintenance in July and together she and Carlene worked to find the right diet for her to feel good about her new beautiful body and an eating plan she could live with. Like Carlene, Chris is an all or nothing kind of person, and after a month of trial and error, experiment and review, she decided to stay raw with a little higher fat % to maintain the 189 pounds she has lost.

We aren't taking credit for that 189 pounds, just the last 33. Chris worked on losing weight over a six year period. She came to us when she couldn't seem to get the last of it off, and has now found that raw food is the way to go.

Not everyone will decide to stay or go 100% raw, but for some, the decision becomes a no brainer. When you have an all or nothing personality, simple raw food is easy to do. Sure there will be temptations and there will be social events where being raw is inconvenient, but Chris now joins a growing group of women who have lost large amounts of weight in  finding a way to live life without having to worry about gaining it back.

Niambi Declares Goal!

Niambi has been at RFBC for a while, and has taken it slow losing her weight. With a hectic job schedule that took her away from home and into areas without wifi, she worked to maintain while away and to lose when she was home. By most RFBC members standards she wasn't heavy to begin with, but now she is absolutely beautiful with a body we all envy! We have been telling her this for a while, and today she decided finally that she didn't want to be thinner. Yeah! We'll get her to post new photos at the end of this camp.

Marie - 65.5 lbs in 6.5 Months

Diet: Simple Low Fat 100% Raw
Support: 7 Days/Week
Exercise: Avg 90min/Day

In putting up our new Goal tab, I could not forget Marie. Marie was half a pound from her goal weight when she injured herself (turned out it was her siatic nerve) and had to stop exercising. This happened at the end of April 2008. Since then, without exercise, she has found she goes up and down in her weight by about 7 pounds. She is not perfectly raw any more, but she knows the power of raw foods, and uses it to maintain her new beautiful body. She is working with a chiropractor to get her body back where exercise is no longer painful.
